Application Behavior

Thirdlane Connect includes a few behavior options that change how the app responds to your everyday actions - opening conversations, placing calls, and starting channel calls. Tuning these to your habits removes small points of friction so the app works the way you expect. This page explains the options and where to find each one.

Opening the “Extra Window” by Default

When a direct conversation or a Channel window is open, there is the “Extra Window” that opens in the right pane that you can toggle by clicking the “hamburger” menu button.

You can make the “Extra Window” in the right pane open immediately when you open a direct conversation or a Channel by checking the “Show Chat menu when a chat or a Channel is opened” in the Language and Appearance settings section.

The changes will be applied once you click the “Save” button.

Editing Phone Number Before Making a Call

You can edit a phone number before making a call. To enable this option, open the Call settings and set “On click-to-call” to “Allow phone number editing”. Now every time you initiate an outgoing call, you will be able to edit the phone number before calling.

Selecting Channel Members before Making a Call

For group calls made using Channels, you can enable an option to select of Channel members to call.

This behavior is enabled for new users by default. Each time you make a call, you will be asked to choose the members to call. Keep in mind that the other Channel members will be able to join the ongoing call by using the “Join call” button even if they were not initially invited to the call.

To change this behaviour to call all the Channel members immediately, open the Call settings and set “On initiating a Channel call” to “Call immediately”.
