Call Parking
Call Parking
Call Parking lets you put a call on hold in a shared “parking space” so it can be “picked up” from a different phone, or by another user. Here you can create and manage Parking Lots and set their options.
Thirdlane offers two kinds of parking lots. Use the buttons on the Call Parking screen to create the type you need:
- Create Standard Parking Lot - park by transferring the call to a single Parking Extension. The system chooses an available parking space, announces the space number, and the call is retrieved by dialing that announced number.
- Create “Valet” Parking - park and retrieve at the same extension. Each space is its own extension in a range that starts at the First Parking Extension; you transfer the call to a free extension in that range and pick it up later by dialing that same extension.
The choice comes down to how calls are retrieved: with a Standard lot the system picks and announces the space; with a Valet lot you park and retrieve at a fixed, known extension.
Create / Edit a Standard Parking Lot
Name. A name for the parking lot.
Description. An optional description.
Parking Extension. The extension to dial (transfer to) in order to park a call. The system then announces the space where the call was parked.
Number of Spaces. How many calls can be parked in this lot at once.
Space Selection Policy. How the next parking space is chosen:
- Park calls in the next available space
- Park calls in the first available space
Parking Time (secs). How long a call may stay parked before it times out.
Timeout Destination. Where a parked call is sent if it is not picked up before the Parking Time expires (for example, back to the person who parked it, or another extension).
Parking Music. The Music-on-Hold played to callers while their call is parked.

Valet lots share most of the same options, with these differences:
First Parking Extension. The first extension in the range used for parking. Calls are parked at, and retrieved from, extensions in this range - there is no separate “announce a space” step and no Space Selection Policy.
Number of Spaces. How many consecutive extensions (starting at the First Parking Extension) are available for parked calls.
Parking Time (secs), Timeout Destination, and Parking Music work the same as for a Standard lot.
