server returned error code 100

Posted by Glen.C on Sun, 06/05/2016

Howdy all.

So i come into work this morning to see our MT server is throwing out a "server returned error code =-100" when anyone attempts to login (admins or limit rights users).

Strangely once i click "OK" on the error and make it go away i can select a tenant and things are back to normal. I note the graphs never appear though and if i attempt to click on the "dashboard" menu option this throws out the error again.

When checking the logs i see this in /var/log/thridlane/debug

Mon Jun 6 09:43:57 2016 (1465170237.835666) 7.4.1.1 [DEBUG]: Fatal Error: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the License Server

is the licensing server down? I know the amazon cloud network went down over the weekend, is that related or just conicidence?

I also see this in the debug log (not sure if relevant though).

Mon Jun 6 09:43:57 2016 (1465170237.835967) 7.4.1.1 [DEBUG]: /usr/libexec/webmin/asterisk/JSONService.cgi line 21 in function (eval)

So 142.4.192.239 (the licensing server) was not pingable for most of today but seems to be responding now and the GUI is now working. So sorted i guess.

Thanks for the feedback. We did have some issues, hopefully all taken care of now - please let us know if you see any problems again.

FYI, in terms of license, the application will tolerate the "failed" license server for a long enough period of time, unfortunately in terms of responsiveness it is affected - something that we will try to improve.

Hello everyone:

I had the same experience this morning.

I was able to login to the GUI with no issue; however clicking on 'Dashboard' or 'licensing' resulted in a >5 min. wait followed by "server returned error code =-100"

Phone calls were still completing; however any provisioning in the GUI was brought to a standstill.

After quite a bit of panic, reviewing log files (could not find any issues there) and searching the Internet for answers I came across this post and another that displayed the login server IP - 142.4.192.239 which was not ping responsive. Once it began responding to pings everything returned to normal.

Is there anything that can be done to ensure the GUI remains responsive during licensing server outages? Are there multiple license servers in place for situations such as this? If yes, please provide a complete list of Thirdlane license server IPs to ensure I don't have any of these blocked in my firewall.
