Upgrade from 5.0.51 to 6.0.1.57

Posted by mattdarnell on Thu, 05/22/2008

I am going to upgrade from 5.0.51 to 6.0.1.57 this weekend. I will also upgrade the scripts.

Has anyone does this upgrade? Anything you can share on the forum or privatively to me at mdarnell at gmail.com about your experience?

I haven't heard of any patches to 6.0.1.57 so I am assuming that it hasn't had any big issues.

Thanks for the wisdom!

A-Matt

Matt,

We did the upgrade last night, over all everything went pretty smooth..

Problem we have see so far..

1) Huntlist - problems seem to have returned, off line extensions are no longer ignored. so the system will sent right to an extensions voice mail box if off line of unreachable.

2) Conference room - internet face displays nothing, BUT CRM is working fine..

we are also having a problem with the call parking and fax to email, there is nothing inthe documantation telling us what apps (by vender) that need to be install to make the features work.. this information would be very helpful

well post more as we check more of the system out,,

George,

Thanks for the heads up. That hunt list issue would have been a killer for us. I am assuming that you mean that if an extension is off line the hunt group call will go to the VM for the off line user or ring for 4-5 rings.

Matt,

I did the upgrade Friday night, it went smooth as class, I had 2 problems.

1 conference rooms would not load, fixed in .59

2 hunt lists do not ignore offline extensions, it will go to the firsdt offline extensions voice mail.

I have discussed this with Alex a couple times, we will be doing testing on this in the morning, with luck it can be corrected easly.

I'll update you after we get done testing..

Matt,

We went over the system this morning in refference to the hunt list problem. It seems the problem was caused by a custom script that was written a long time ago to correct some problems we had using the then default scripts in TL.

Since then the default scripts were updated which accommodated the problem we had AND added additional funsionality (hunt lists) which we were not using that caused the problem. Once we changed back over to the default script everything worked as it should. Life is Good :)

So in short, The upgrade to .57 went smooth, but had a bug in the conference room manager, Version 6.1.59 corrected it.

I hope that help and puts your mind as ease

George,

Thank you for all the feedback.

I haven't modified any scripts yet so it sounds like I should be OK.

My next issue is that the license page of the GUI states version 5, I will confirm with Alex that my license will let me upgrade to 6.X.

Thanks again,

Matt

Matt,

Your license will work with the new version.

In general it is ok to update the software as long as the license has a date that does not go back more than 1 year (free upgrade/update period).

Best regards,

Alex

All,

We performed the upgrade this weekend and have seen no side effects. The upgrade was a two click operation.

Thanks for the feedback George!

Go to the user portal / voice mail and click on any of the folders old – family – friends what ever I get the following message Mailbox is not specified

IF you log into the user portal as the user you get "You don't have permission to access this page"

BUT if I check the voice mail using the phone I can change to the old folder and lesson to the messages saved there..

it seems when TL create the user (ext) mail directory its not getting the correct rights to that directly..

please advise..

can you run that command from shell and paste your output? I want to make sure i do a test under the same conditions to re-create the problem.

There was a bug that prevented VM messages access in the User Portal. It is not file system permissions issue. PBX Manager has to ensure that users only have access to their own messages - and PBX Manager was a bit too strict :). It is now fixed and will be included in the next build.
