Inbound Fax In Thirdlane 9.1.2.37

Posted by aponnath on Tue, 01/01/2019

Is there somewhere some info on how to setup inbound DID's as Fax endpoints ? My outbound
works fine but i am having problem setting up inbound fax for users. Also some of the posts i see
on here as well as the script mention they require a App for it to work but as of version 13 Digium
no longer supports FAX app
Asterisk version 13 or later does not support Fax For Asterisk.
So do i still need a FAX app or is the support now part of 13.x native and if not what APP is now
supported as well as how do you setup a fax mail box per user.

Ok, update to my own question, res_fax_spandsp is installed with thirdlane by default so the notes in the script are a bit misleading. Based on notes in forum one is supposed to create a new feature code and then route to that feature code. What i see by doing so it would require a feature code for each fax mailbox t pass the mailto email address. I cloned the script and added it as inbound-route and then applied it to an inbound route. This way i was able to specify the email address in the route.
In either case i was able to receive the inbound fax, but in neither case it was send to the email address specified. both fax images are still in the /var/spool/asterisk/fax folder. Is there anything one needs to do to ensure it is forwarded to the email address or where is the log to see why it was not forwarded ?

Hello. You should check /var/log/maillog log file. Most likely postfix configuration will have to be adjusted. Best way is to configure it with proper relay server.
