Mentions

Mentions let you get a specific person’s attention in a channel or chat, or address everyone at once. When you are mentioned, Thirdlane Connect calls it out with a distinct badge and sound so it does not get lost among ordinary messages (16.1.3+).

Mentioning someone

  1. In the message box, type @.
  2. A picker appears. Keep typing to filter by name, then choose the person you want.
  3. The mention is inserted as a highlighted chip. Send the message as usual.

You can include several mentions in one message.

Mention everyone

Two special mentions address a whole channel:

  • @everyone - notifies all members of the channel.
  • @here - notifies members who are currently active.

Use these sparingly - they alert many people at once.

When you are mentioned

  • The conversation shows a red mention badge in your lists, separate from the ordinary unread count, so mentions stand out.
  • A distinct mention sound plays (where sound notifications are enabled).
  • Mentions reach you across all your signed-in devices.

Mentions also reach you in conversations you have set to Mentions only, and they still accrue as badges while your status is Busy (Do Not Disturb), so you can catch up when you return. See Notification Settings and Your Status.
