RTP Servers
RTP Servers handle real-time media (audio) traffic for calls. In a multi-location cluster deployment, dedicated RTP servers can be placed at each location to keep media traffic local, reducing latency and improving call quality.
Create/Edit RTP Server
Name. A short identifier for the RTP server.
IP Address. The IP address of the RTP server.
Location. The location where this RTP server is deployed.
Purpose
By placing RTP servers close to the users they serve, you avoid routing media traffic through a central server, which reduces:
- Audio latency and jitter
- Bandwidth consumption on inter-site links
- Single points of failure for media handling
RTP server configuration is part of the cluster topology. See Deployment Options for architecture details.
