Whenever I configure my server, it crashes

Posted by gregshap on Thu, 03/13/2008

Whenever I build my server and start to configure it, it stops working and shows the following on the PBX INFORMATION screen:

PBX Version
Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?)
Uptime
Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?)
SIP Channels
Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?)
SIP Peers
Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?)
SIP Registry
Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?)
IAX Channels
Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?)
IAX Peers
Unable to connect to remote asterisk (does /var/run/asterisk.ctl exist?)

I have reburned the system 4 times and the same thing happens.

Any ideas???

This is frustrating and not a good sign.

I am running version 5.1.2

Thanks,

OK,

I rebuilt yet again and noticed when I upload my MOH file, that is when it crashes. When I delete the file (an MP3) it comes back to life. The file is just a 1 mb music file that had worked in other Asterisk Servers before. Weird.

I find that using .wav files work better than mp3 handlers. Try decoding and resampling to 8k monaural and see how that works for you. Its easier on the resources for sure.
