What SIP Trunking Provider would you recommend?

Posted by cbbs70a on Wed, 06/16/2010

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I find that there are times that I'm asked to recommend a SIP trunking provider for very small installs. Essentially 1 trunk for a guy working out of his house, maybe an engineer looking to do some testing on a server, etc. But, most providers require a minimum purchase of say three trunks (Broadvox comes to mind) which is fine for almost all cases, but not in this case. What I am looking for ideally is a provider that has no minimum number of trunks, flat rate, that supports T38. Of course, Asterisk needs to be supported. I sometimes recommend Broadvoice, but in my opinion, they suck and I hate to send them business. Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Frank

for service _that small_ you should look into something like:

junction networks
binfone
Vitelity

these are purely metered services and in most cases you put money in an account and it deducts from that account.

example: you put in $50 and set the recharge amount at $20. Whever your balance drops below $20 it will re-charge your credit card to top you back off at $50.

I'm a little late getting here, but telasip.com and aretta.com are a couple that we have used. Both very good and reasonably priced. I believe Aretta (based in Atlanta) is per minute. Telasip will do per minute or per channel.
