Voicemail custom unavail-message

Posted by diffen on Mon, 11/25/2013

Hello

If i add a new unavail.wav file to /var/spool/asterisk/voicemail/default-tenantname/3/ the file is played to me the first time i get connected to the voicemail. But after its played the pbx removes the file so the second time i get connected to the voicemailbox i get the default one for the whole system. I havent recorded the message using the *97-extension. I simply added the file. I have set the correct owner and the correct file rights.

What have i missed out in the config? The thing is that the tenant wants the same message to be played for everyone so it would be easy to get this done via adding the file to everyones voicemail.

most likely its the file format you're using. if you notice in voicemail.conf, we default the recording format to just wav49, thats the format emailed to you so why make 3 formats when you need this one anyway and the compression is quite nice. The file extension for this file type is .WAV and when you use the file command to look at its properties it will inform you that its a GSM encoded wave audio file. Try recording your generic unavail.WAV from a handset, and then copy that created file into the other mailboxes.
