Using Lync with Thirdlane

Posted by John_M on Fri, 11/15/2013

Has anyone had success in setting up communication between the two or found any reference materials to do so?

Thank you for any insight!

nope... the documentation for using Lync clearly indicates that the Lync server is now your PBX and asterisk is nothing more than a stupid conduit of sip traffic. Gone will be your user portal manager as well as all those advanced features, call queus, etc. Any in-call feature like one touch recording or other dtmf activated features will not function since asterisk will not be managing the phones.

I would believe perhaps a more limited approach, where you can send calls to the Lync server, but leave the handsets as real extensions on your PBX, would be a compromise of sorts. Just treat the lync server as if it were a slave PBX and route certain patterns or DID's directly to that trunk
