Thirland ver 6, DID will not ring ext

Posted by cayres on Thu, 10/11/2012

I recently changed the inbound route on a DID number to goto a hunt group. My hunt group didn't work, so changed the inbound DID back to the original settting. However, it will not ring the ext's number anymore. Instead it rings a button on the phone that is labled CODE. No one, including myself, knows what that CODE button is. Can't find it anywhere. Calling internally, the number rings fine. Only on an outside call will it do this. There happened to be a second ext on this phone which I have since directed the DID to. I could leave it going to CODE, but anything answered on that button can't transfer. I very new at this. stuggling to figure it out. Any suggestions would be great.

never seen a button called CODE on a polycom or digium phone.. I think you're leaving out a whole bunch of stuff like.. pertinent information.

I probably did a bad job of stating my question. The point I was trying to make, was that the phone is ext 8700 ( button 1 on phone) and there is another button on the phone that is not 8700 (button 6). I don't know what the number is for this button. The phone shows "code" for that button. When any call from outside comes into the system for this ext. it always goes to the "code" button. I have checked the inbound routes for 8700. It is set for "ring user ext" and 8700 is highlighted for the ext number. I can change that to any other number and it will go without fail to that other number. But when it is set for 8700, an outside call goes to the "code" button on 8700. I have tested other DID numbers and set them for 8700 all with the same result. They all will ring on the button "code" on 8700's phone. If you call 8700 from inside the office; ext to ext; there is no problem. It will ring on the button 1 as it should. There are no call forward settings set on 8700. I turned off everything I am aware of. If there is some other way to route an ext number to some other number, I don't know where it is.

<sarcasm>those phones are not supported by asterisk. I was forced to look up your manufacturer with my crystal ball because you didnt bother to include important information like that. It appears they are a nockoff chinese brand that is not compatible</sarcasm>

seriously, you need to disclose everything.. there are over 200 different models of compatible phones and over 700 different versions of asterisk, counting every patch release. How would we know what you chose to use?

my apologies. They are using the linksys spa phones. The particular phone in question is the spa962. That much I know. I have logged into the web interface on the phone, but the admin login is password protected. My on site contact is trying to find out what it might be.

I didn't set the system up. My customer's corperate office had the system installed a few years ago. We are coming into this because of the particular individual who is now over the it department. He has been asking us to try and work on it for some time. The person who setup the system up, is not available to talk to. There was a break between corperate and the individual. Money things.... BAsically we are on our own. I am just trying to get a few things done he needed done. We have an tech in our department who used to install asterisk systems before working for us. He has been assisting me as he has time. He works in our remote office in another city and is not always available. I am hoping to make some progress on the user name and password for the admin login on that phone.

look in the auto-provisioning section of thirdlane to see if the phones are listed there with mac adresses. what you are describing does not conform to normal behavior of the SPA phones so something has been mis-configured along the way. Best solution is to probably start with determining of its been auto-config'd. If it has, then replacing the customized templates with the standard ones will probably resolve your issues.

Hey cayres factory resetting the phone will allow you to unlock the web interface of the phone. To do this:

1. Hit the settings key on the phone (its the icon with a piece of paper with the right corner folded down)
2. Go to option 14
3. Select Yes
4. Phone will come back with a completely erased configuration with web interface unlocked.

If you need more assistance shoot me your email and we can go forward from there. We have plenty of clients using the linksys SPA series of phones.

All you would have to do is type in the proxy server, username and password under the "Ext 1" tab to get it functioning for the time being. From there he could then figure out his auto provisioning script issue.
