Thirdlane PBX Manager 6.1.1.4 is available

Posted by thirdlane on Thu, 08/19/2010

This is a production release which is also a candidate for our upcoming ISO. Your feedback is appreciated.

2010-08-19 Changed conference management in MTE to add prefix to conference room numbers (in addition to tenant id) for keeping the conference room numbers "clean" and still keep them unique. Users don't need to enter this prefix when selecting a conference room, just the conference room number. This will affect only new installations.
2010-08-17 Changed feature codes to match NANPA where possible. This will only affect new installations, existing users can update manually. Thanks Erik
2010-08-17 Removed "none" options and multiple selection from dropdowns for most of the script argument types to avoid cases where users ignore warnings and end up with invalid selection. Thanks George
2010-08-16 Cleaned up internals of General Settings screen.
2010-08-16 Made extensive internal changes dealing with loading of current instance.
2010-08-16 Changed checking Asterisk Manager accessibility, so that it is only checked when needed. This speeds up some screens and prevents data inconsistencies in cases when users ignore warnings.
2010-08-15 Added "Pickup Groups" screen for managing Pickup Groups based on the PickupChan command. Note that this will only work in 1.6.2.X and 1.8.X.X. Thanks Erik

it means a new installation of TL will have different star codes (or Vertical Services Codes as they are referred to) as examples for the thirdlane tenant. Existing installations that upgrade wont have their existing feature codes tampered with. Existing installations can view the differences by opening the sample file at /usr/libexec/webmin/asterisk/configs/asterisk/extensions.include (of for non centos installations replace /usr/libexec with your webmin root)

the biggest change was to the codes that were in the *80 - *89 range. They we either for features that have been defined nationally as a different number (*98 in the example of voicemail) or they were for a feature that doesnt exist as its stand-alone code (like checking the status of forwarding which got moved into the 90's block)

By freeing up the *80's we were able to create some consistency with pickup features in preparation of the 1.8 release. We wanted to start new installations out with examples in their thirdlane tenant that we hope they will use in their cloning. The new design allows for a new feature called pickup group (think of it along the lines of pickupgroup= in sip.conf) except in this case one tenant can create for itself several pickup groups. The example VSC's include a pattern _*8X for group pickup. Dialing *80 would activate pickup group 0, *81 for pickup group 1, etc. Meanwhile, to maintain consistency, the Directed Call Pickup is provisioned with a pattern of _*8X. to allow for extensions with length of 2 or more digits.

From an end-users perspective they just need to think *8 ... if its a group then its *8 + group-number. If its for a specific extension its *8 + extension-number.
