Thirdlane Dialer MTE

Posted by IVSCOMM on Mon, 03/02/2009

Anyone able to get this to work in MTE.

I have installed the Dialer and I have it configured correctly (i think)
but I keep getting an error that says:

Run-time error '5':
Invalid procedure call or argument

then the system crashes and I have to reboot the pc.

it is not meant to work in MTE, but your crash is likely unrelated to MTE, it doesnt work well with vista or some versions of outlook.

We have the dialer installed on a Vista/Outlook 2007 machine and Outlook is crashing.

On restart of Outlook, it is saying there was a serious problem with the dialer plugin and asks if we want to disable it.

Is this normal, or is there something we can do to fix this?

I am testing the Dialer with MTE. How problematic with Vista?

I have the Dialer app running and it can make outbound calls, but I can't get it to do a screen pop or register that an inbound call is coming in.

Could that be something in my configuration or maybe Vista?

its probably more of an issue of NAT. Every PC running the dialer app has to have a public non translated IP so that asterisk can send some data to that ip address. There is no support for NAT or ip sharing.

That's a bummer. I was hoping for a less expensive alternative to iSymphony (which we also use).

Anyone using anything else? Could astproxy or something like that help here?

Thanks,

Dialer seems to work ok. I was expecting to have it to attach to my Outlook client and not a little green floating window. It pushes the Contacts to the caller id on the phone, but nat able to dial from contacts or nor do the inbound calls register and look into my contacts... any adivice?

Erik,

Thank you for the feedback. I'm running SP3 outlook 2003. If i go to >>Tools>>Options>>Other>>Adavanced Options>>COM AddIns... I see the Asterisk dialer listed, check the box, and save, and reload outlook. No go, check the same check box, and it will not stay cheked. I have diabled Anitvirous, unistalled Dialer from computer, verified no entries in the REgistry and reinstalled. Still no go. I am puzzled

Thanks,,,have a great day.

it was written in Visual Basic 6 from what i understand. MS EOL'ed visual basic when they went with the whole dot-NET thing. Its probably broken as a result of some service pack :)
