Problem with mailboxes after update to 6.0.1.72

Posted by homa on Tue, 05/05/2009

Hi !

I have the following problem after update.

I created a special mailbox which is a overall mailbox for all users.

After i select this mailbox in the extension, this special mailbox in the gui will be not displayed and a special mailbox of the extension will be displayed.

in voicemail.conf all is correct.

Thanks

this is the correct, intended, behavior. The only thing that separates a special mailbox from any other mailbox is that it is not referenced in users.txt. The mere act of assigning a special mailbox to an extension populates users.txt and thereby prevents it from listing in special mailboxes. Subsequently you are releasing 'ownership' of the extension's mailbox by selecting a different mailbox, causing it to list under Special mailboxes.

This is working as intended. You can only monitor one mailbox for MWI. What is your end objective, perhaps I can suggest another method?

we have a customer with many extensions but only one general mailbox. Any extension should be able to activate this genral mailbox in the user portal when he leaves his place.

The Problem is that when i create a special mailbox and refence to this in the extension i can't see this mailbox anymore in the gui and can't change anything.

This behavoir was't before update.

Thanks

It was broken before, permissions didnt work right, now its fixed. So in your situation, for some reason, they have only 1 voicemail box on the entire tenant/server and they want every extension to roll into that mailbox?

Why not take extension 101 (just made up extension) and set him up to use his own mailbox (101) and then have everyone else pointed to that mailbox? This leaves extension 101 as the controller of said mailbox (also gives you user portal access to alter mailbox options) and everyone else receiving MWI on the mailbox plus user portal control of the voicemail messages themselves.

Not a big fan of individual mailboxes?
