Phone provisioning protocols - do you use and need FTP?

Do you use FTP for provisioning and if so why?

What if we only supported HTTP or just HTTPS - would that be a problem?

No one should use anything except http/https.

That said, why not make the templates properly use what is set in the settings instead of having it all hard coded.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) was originally widely used for phone provisioning; however, due to security concerns and the introduction of more secure protocols like as HTTP(S) and TFTP (Trivial File Transfer Protocol), its use is declining. Even though some older systems could still use FTP, most contemporary phone provisioning systems choose safer and more effective alternatives.
