Incoming calls not registered

Posted by Bruce on Fri, 05/29/2015

My customer keeps receiving calls displaying '201" or "1001" but when I checked the call register, there are not such calls.

Hello

I have had customers with same issue and it usually involves polycom phones that are connected to ATT Uverse modem directly. It isnt an Asterisk or Thirdlane issue thats why it doesnt show up as a call in the CDR. I have found that putting an SBC or SIP friendly router in front of phones and in between the Uverse modem solves the issue. I've only seen this with ATT.

Hope this helps!

Also, you should check the phone's configuration options. A lot of phones will have a setting to only accept calls from the server to which they are registered.

in a nutshell someone is running a script to trick your phone into authenticating and giving out its password. This is one major reason why you should always run your handsets in a separate vlan that is not discoverable by local machines running trojans. The consequences of compromised sip accounts for international calls can easily exceed $4k every hour of exploit.
