How do you upgrade

Posted by ipfreely on Wed, 11/26/2008

Before I thought there used to be a link on one of the pages that checked for new upgrades. Maybe I am crazy, but I do not see it anymore. What is the best way to upgrade??

Thanks,
Chris

It's on the "home page" that you get when you first log in before you pick anything off the menus. If the link isn't showing up, check if your license has expired.

Be sure you enable the license, view admin manual and other information in the tenant settings you are trying to upgrade from.

That got me as well when I first started.

Check to make sure that "Link to Administrator's Guide" is set to show, to enable this go to System Settings > Branding > Link to Administrator's Guide and select the radial button to set it to show. There seems to be a bug that when that is unchecked the update link goes away.

The issue of showing/not showing links to updates is unfortunately a bit complicated - we don't show this link if the customer chooses to hide references to Thirdlane (like not show Administrator's Guide - which by the way could be shown but replaced with customer's own). This does not mean that updates are impossible - they just have to be done by downloading from the web site and installing the Webmin module.

That said - Gert - I don't know why you don't see the link - please get in touch and I can look at what may be wrong.

I get this message, and always have:

"The latest available version of PBX Manager could not be retrieved.

Automatic upgrades are available only to customers under maintenance and require a valid permanent license."

Even though I paid for the license and its current.

Maybe this could be fixed someday.......

Could be your box isn't allowed to make direct outbound internet connections? Do you need to configure a proxy? I think there's a spot in the "webmin" panel in webmin to set a proxy server if you need to use one.
