How to design sequential hunt pattern for groups of extensions

Posted by raven on Wed, 08/06/2008

I have a customer that wants a call to ring each member of a group, then if they don't answer, ring each member of another group at 20s per station. If none of either group answer, it goes to VM.

What is the best way to accomplish this task? ACD Queues are in place, but of course a single call just bounces through one member of each group before going to VM. Which is as designed I would think.

Employ Ring groups? And how? Queues were fairly easy to figure out, but the documentations on ring groups doesn't seem to tie it all together for me.

I think creating a hunt group will do just that.

You can designate what phones to ring & when...then have a final action - like go to voice mail - if no one answers.

To build hunt lists, go to PBX Features / Hunt Lists. Enter each extension as it's own ring group unless you want multiple phones to ring simultaneously in that hop. At the end of the hunt list you can program it to call another script and go somewhere.
