Config File Formatting & Web GUI Issues

Posted by Ariel on Mon, 04/20/2009

Hi,

I am in the process of migrating my office over to TL Single Tenant (ST). I have encountered a very strange problem. I created all the extensions and DID's and Routes on the TL server. I then started by commenting the lines in Extensions.include that were for internal extensions that I had not ported over, and replaced the Macro(..userextension) part with a Dial() line that would allow ported users to still communicate with non ported users on the other asterisk server. I also configured outbound routes in the outbound.include file directly that include all the valid phone numbers and those that are not ported also get a Dial(SIP/...@oldserverIP). The routing and calling was working correctly, but suddenly if I went to any extension in the User Extensions window, made a change (voicemail password, etc) and clicked OK, suddenly the link for that Extension vanished, all other data in the row for the extension in the GUI remained, but the link was gone. I can go to the extension via direct URL, replacing the cgi variables with that extension, but the failure still remains.

So, what formatting, line spacing, etc do I need to make sure the files are in for the GUI not to get messed up? I did not place things in strange contexts or what have you. If needed I can provide a screenshot of my user extensions GUI window.

Thanks

Ariel

Hi Ariel,

Overall it is near impossible to predict what will happen if users modify configuration files by hand - it is better not to do that :).

Were you able to solve the problem?

Best regards,

Alex
