Best way to provide IP trunking to a Trixbox or similar

Posted by mattdarnell on Fri, 05/21/2010

Aloha,

We are getting requests to provide DID's and outbound calling to shops that are going to install Trixbox, Elastix, etc.

I know some folks are doing this now through Thirdlane. Are you creating a trunk and use a custom script to route the DID's to the trunk?

How are you authenticating for calls from the remote server?

Do you create a tenant for each customer?

Any tips would be appreciated, perhaps we could create a set of instructions.

I do it off my gateway box, so that my cdr for billing isnt all screwed up and so that its a straight packet2packet sip transfer. I use password authentication, I set the specific IP, and if need be I use an ACL for deny/permit.
