7961/7941 - Won't register - TL (MTE) latest with Asterisk 1.8

[2010-10-11 17:16:38] NOTICE[2310]: chan_sip.c:23324 handle_request_register: Registration from '' failed for '96.244.83.23:49231' - No matching peer found

Tenant name is 999 (use to be alpha - changed it to numeric to see if it makes a difference)
Extension is 201

Works with an AASTRA phone, but won't work with a 7941.

Any ideas? Could Cisco not like the dash?

Does any body have a 7961 config that I could see? I'm pretty sure I have a good one, because my config works on another multi-tenant edition of asterisk. So I think its something else.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

are you using the 7941 xml template included with TL? I reverse engineered those a year and a half ago.. but only on STE. I have definitely see other cisco equipment (like the IADs) that refuse to process the dash so its a strong possibility. the RFC for sip authentication includes support for dashes, underscores, alpha, numeric etc. You can experiment with making a sip.conf entry manually that doesn't have a dash in order to try and see if it will at least register that way. Did you notice that there was nothing at all mentioned in your error message?

Registration from '' failed for '96.244.83.23:49231'

I believe you usually find an extension number in the quotes..

Registration from '200-tenant' failed for '96.244.83.23:49231'

have you used a 7941 with MTE before? Which versions?
