Upgrading Asterisk and Thirdlane

Posted by cbbs70a on Mon, 04/09/2012

I have a customer who bought a Thirdlane license a couple of years ago and is still running Asterisk 1.4. He just recently purchased a new Thirdlane license (with more extensions). Now that he has the new license, is it possible to upgrade Asterisk to 1.8 along with upgrading the Thirdlane software?
Thanks;
Frank

yes.. but some dialplan youre going to have to either fix manually.. or re-publish through the gui, which is smart enough to realize there was no change, so you'll have to change it then change it back effecting 2 changes to everything such as inbound routes or hunt lists etc.

no, only someone with enough experience with asterisk, who can read the UPGRADE-1.6.txt and interpret what needs to change on your TL box, should be the one who does the upgrade.

very little work required to go from 1.6 to 1.8. All the work is converting from 1.4 to 1.6/1.8 syntax.
