trouble registering with callwithus.com

Posted by voip on Tue, 03/09/2010

Anyone have issues registering a trunk with callwithus?
It works fine for me in PBX in a Flash.
I use the same registration string in both PBX Manager and PIAF: my_account:my_password@sip.callwithus.com

CLI> shows:

[Mar 9 21:20:14] NOTICE[4269]: chan_sip.c:7427 sip_reg_timeout: -- Registration for 'xxxxxxxxx@sip.callwithus.com' timed out, trying again (Attempt #22)
-- ast_get_srv: SRV lookup for '_sip._udp.sip.callwithus.com' mapped to host sip.callwithus.com, port 5060
[Mar 9 21:20:34] NOTICE[4269]: chan_sip.c:7427 sip_reg_timeout: -- Registration for 'xxxxxxxxx@sip.callwithus.com' timed out, trying again (Attempt #23)

???

Thanks, in advance, for any help offered.

Oops, I did not post enough info...

Both servers are inside the LAN.
I have a port forward for SIP and RTP in place.
When PIAF works I have the forwards pointed at PIAF.
When PBX Manager does not work I still have the port forwards properly pointed at PBX Manager.
I do not have NAT checked in the trunk, (tried it & it did not matter).
My goal is to replace PIAF with PBX Manager.

Thanks.

wait you just said two nasty key words.. port forward

that means you are running behind nat.

you do realize that sip doesnt give a shit about what ip address the data came from.. its the ip in the URI that the spec communicates to/from. Your problem, I am willing to bet, is that your sip messages are going out as @some.private.ip and therefore the return path is invalid. You should either

a) attach a public interface to your pbx (most reccomended method as nat is evil for SIP)

b) learn how to make use of the sip.conf file with regards of declaring local subnets and what external ip to send to servers not within the local subnets.
