Some Basic Advice

Posted by rockinthesixstring on Sat, 05/31/2008

I have been so happy with the system that Alex configured for me at my current office, I am considering using it for my home business as well. Only problem is that I dont know exactly what I need... Can anyone shed any light.

I would like to use a VoIP provider like Vonage or Navigata WebCall for my phone number. Is there a way to do it directly into the PBX without first converting it to Analog and then back to Digital?

If no, what PCI card is it that I would require to take the Analog signal into the PBX?

Basically what I am looking to do is to use the PBX as an answering service and not actually answer any phone calls. Send my customers to self-help subsystem (to start)... then later down the road once I am established, I will be hiring someone to answer phones.

I suppose I am just looking for some advice... Thanks all

there are a number of SIP and IAX2 providers out there (including vonage) that you can peer directly without the need to use an ATA.
