extension sheduling

Posted by George on Thu, 11/01/2007

We would like to see scheduling added to the extension,

what this would do is allow a user to set follow me or call forwading on there extension, So lets say you are in the office from 9-5, during business hours your office extension would ring, at 5:01 it would ring your cell, home extension or what ever you have it set to until 8:59 the next morning where your office extension would ring again.

of course this can be done with calling into the system or using the web interface, the problem is people (me included) forget to make the change, this way its automatic.. we have used this in the past on a different system and you get spoiled on how much easier it make your life.

Thanks

The problem with doing it this way is we don't give access to the configuration edit to our customers. So customers could not use this feature with out it being biult into the web interface unless we do it for them and thats to cumbersome.

Matt no one wants there cell to ring at 3:00am, but others might. having it build into the web interface you can have your work extension ring at the office from 9am to 5pm, then to you home or cell till say 11pm then from 11:01 to 8:59 go to voice mail, then on weekends do something different.

if you where an owner, manager or in IT you would be able to see the point to this feature.. if not you're not going to see it. Sure you can go into the web interface 3-5 time a day and on weekends and make the changes BUT having the system do it for you on a ser schedule do it for you have already proven to us and MANY of our customers as being VERY usefull freature.

I think the key requirements would be:

1) configurable from the web with all the bells and whistles (possibly multiple profiles)

2) manageable from the phone in a very simple way - perhaps by switching profiles, etc.

3) automatic (schedule based) profile selection with a possible user override ? this potentially can get confusing for users - not sure how far we should go with this.

Any suggestions?

since user, tenants do not have access to the extension.conf Matts way can't work..

no bells no whistles..

on / off toggle / from (time) to (time) / on / off (weekends)

adding it to follow me and or call forwarding

at this point in time there is not reason to over think it.. keep is simple..
