Q:

Can Thirdlane PBX Manager be used with Asterisk Business Edition from Digium?

A:

Yes.

Q:

Do I need to install Asterisk before installing Thirdlane PBX Manager?

Thirdlane PBX installs Asterisk automatically.

Q:

How do I install Thirdlane PBX?

A:

Yuo can download Thirdlane PBX - a complete CentOS based Linux distribution containing Thirdlane PBX Manager GUI, Asterisk and additional useful software from our site, burn it on a CD and install it following a simple installation procedure.

Alternatively you can install the OS, Asterisk, Webmin and Thirdlane PBX Manager GUI - you should do that only if you have special hardware or software requirements.

Q:

Is there a quick way to set up multiple extensions?

A:

Yes, you can enter a list of users and their extensions in a spreadsheet and use “Bulk Generator” to generate multiple extensions. Note that you can also enter respective DIDs and MAC addresses to generate Inbound Routes and configuration files for auto-provisioning. Please refer to Thirdlane PBX documentation for details.

Q:

Does Thirdlane PBX support phone mass deployment / auto-provisioning?

A:

Yes, Thirdlane PBX can generate configuration files for Aastra, Cisco, Linksys, Polycom, and Snom phones and ATAs.

Q:

So what should we install?

A:

If you don't have any special requirements - use Thirdlane PBX Linux distribution.

The installation is simple (you don't have to separately install Linux, Asterisk or Webmin) and you also get the advantage of automatically installing additional software that otherwise you may have to install yourself ( such as Perl modules for graphing and database access, system monitoring tools, servers for phone auto-provisioning and more).
