Tue, 05/11/2010 - 14:43 | there no 'instance' about
there no 'instance' about it.. if you select restart you have just ended the asterisk process. I would not recommend doing this during usage hours.
is this because the gui triggered a 'restart' button?

Tue, 05/11/2010 - 15:00 | no just looking at all
no just looking at all options
it just seems like one tenant should be able to do a restart while others keep going
( for whatever resaon )
it is not an issue at first when there are few clients but like most pbx' it may be later...
when the telco has a problem just a segment of people go off line not the entire office code or area code
and the same holds true for traditional phone systems you may loose a station card which affects a few not all

get a book, or two... unix for dummies, asterisk the future of telephony etc... asterisk is a running process. you cannot kill -HUP a piece of a process. these books will help you understand a bit more about services/processes etc.
in other terms... you cannot reboot a windows RDP server and only reboot the half that RDP client A is using. a restart (reboot) is a restart, and a reload (logout/login) is a reload
