Yes, you would be able to restore the configuration from the earlier versions.
Suggested steps:
1) install the latest version of pbx manager on the old box.
2) create backup and verify that it is created ok
3) install new ISO ona new box
4) restore from a backup
Best regards,
Alex
Tue, 01/27/2009 - 20:39 | PAE Support
Hi Alex,
We have migrated to the new ISO with it package management, so much easlier upgrading Asterisk. Is there any possiblity you could include PAE compatible dahdi modules to go with the PAE kernel?
Regards
Allister
Sun, 02/01/2009 - 06:26 | Not installing 1.6
Alex,
I installed the ST ISO and selected Asterisk 1.6 but it installed 1.4 on Centos 5.2.
I guess this is your first bug report.

Your download links are dead now,

Mon, 02/02/2009 - 10:25 | Asterisk 1.6
The ISO I have installs Asterisk 1.6 as expected, I have used it three times.
But I was sure that I had to uncomment the ;;Asterisk-1.6 lines instead of the ;;Asterisk-1.4 lines in the script files. I did a third install to check and all the ;;Asterisk-1.6 lines were uncommented as you would expect. Weird.

Wed, 02/04/2009 - 05:00 | So, you had to
So you had to edit the ISO and then reburn it or how did you do it.
When I tried to install the ISO I downloaded on 1/15, it would not do 1.6 although I clicked on that option.

Wed, 02/04/2009 - 06:49 | Re: So, you had to
It installed Asterisk 1.6 fine. Im sure it was one of the first options; selecting what version of asterisk 1.4 or 1.6 (press 5 for asterisk 1.6 and 6 for 1.4 I think, maybe the otherway around). The ISO I have is labled 'thirdlane-en-st-1.8-i386.iso' download on the 19/12 which installs Asterisk 1.6.0.1 by default, yum -update brings it up to 1.6.0.3.
Regarding the script files, I only had to uncomment the asterisk 1.6 commands and ;; comment the asterisk 1.4 ones.
Hope this some how helps.

Does anyone have links to these ISOs? It seems (for me at least) that the links are dead.
Thanks,
Andrew
Tue, 02/17/2009 - 07:12 | Links to ISO
We had some problems wth our server. The links should be ok now - but you should download the new version - see an announcement about the release candidate in this forum.
Thanks,
Alex
Sat, 06/06/2009 - 21:33 | no GUI fax detection in
no GUI fax detection in 1.6
Is that going to make it into 1.6 someday?
Sun, 06/07/2009 - 14:36 | No. NVFaxDetect is not part
No. NVFaxDetect is not part of asterisk core or asterisk-addons and the source repository is no longer even available. I've explained this a few times. The original Author removed all source code and actually even deleted all negative comments off the voip info wiki. You can see a old copy of some of the remarks here:
http://www.pbx.in/voip-info/wiki/view/Newman+Telecom.html
lots of allegations of collecting money and not providing service.
The only fax detection built into asterisk is in DAHDI using faxdetect=
The fax solution for an IP call is to pay the $1 - $3 and get the extra DID number and just point that did directly to your fax application. NVFaxDetection should have never been included in the ISO's in the first place (IMHO). There is no means what so ever to support such an app since the author was/is apparently a complete flake and he did not open-source his patch to a community so that development would survive even after his vanish.
If you find some 3rd party application that you want to add to pbx you'll need to compile it and include it post-install. In most cases these sources do not continue to evolve with Asterisk developments. For this reason they should not be part of the general distribution. Otherwise the implication is that support is expected. A perfect example of this is the add-on module 'valetparking'. This no longer compiles, as distributed, in 1.4.23 and higher. I emailed a patch to the author on how to fix it, and let him know that the fix works in versions pre-1.4.23 as well. He simply is not interested in making the 8 line change and updating his download. He has moved onto developing freeswitch and has no interest in maintaining valetparking any longer.
