We are about to make a major release with a lot of new functionality, enhancements and bug fixes - really soon now!
If you have some spare time :) please be our tester!
And if you feel really generous with your time and speak a foreign language (or languages) - please help us in bringing translations up to date (Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, Dutch) or be the first to translate into new languages. As we continuously add new functionality the translations get hopelessly behind and we could definitely use some help there.
Let me know if you are interested in helping out.
Thanks,
Alex

Is there a way you can send me the files to get a real Brazilian Portuguese translation?
Brazilians are very xenophobic and don't like it when they see another language that is not Portuguese, so as all the strings for the PT_BR are actually in English, there is no way we can use thirdlane here in Brazil.
I am American, so I don't care, but my Brazilian clients don't like it at all.

Guys,
Thanks for jumping in. The problem we have is that the software is constantly evolving so it is really hard to keep translations up to date.
I will contact you directly so we can decide on the best way to get the translations updated.

Wed, 05/05/2010 - 10:37 | I search how i can translate thirdlane MTE in French
I use this very good solution for my business but to use in production case, i must be sure that it is completly translated to French.
However we plan to launch hosting compagny with VOIP.
So I propose you to finish the translation from the MTE Thirdlane English to French.
To do so, either you tell me where is the language files in the linux directory tree, or you tell me how to do it for everyone. But I need to finish before July 2010.
Thank you in advance,
CRM&DATA compagny
Thu, 05/06/2010 - 04:55 | how to translate thirdlane pbx manager
Firstly, thanks to all helping with translations - it would not be possible without your help!
I will explain how the translation mechanism works - please feel free to post here or ask me directly if you have any questions.
1) For each language Thirdlane uses a language file which is stored in the lang directory under the installation directory. The names basically match languages - so for English it is en, Spanish es, French fr, etc
2) Language file contains key=value pairs where the value is the text in the language of the file and key is what the software references to show the text on the screen.
3) if a particular key is missing (as frequently happens when the software is updated and contains new keys and a language file is not updated), then the value from the English (en) file is used.
4) New keys (or keys where values were recently changed) are on the bottom of the (en) file to make updates easier.
5) The translation process consists of a) matching the keys in a corresponding language file with those in en (which contains all the key=value pairs) and making sure that all the keys that require translation are in the language file and b) translating the values in the appropriate language.
6) Adding a new language requires additional step for adding the language to the language selector on Preferences page which we have to do internally once the translation is done. To test a new language before it was added one could "pretend" that the language is one of the existing languages and name the file based on that just for testing - once it is tested and the file is sent to us we would add the new language and rename the file accordingly.
7) Please let me know if you are going to work on a particular translation so we could avoid duplication.
Hope this helps and we will see some new and updated translations soon :)
