Prepend Text

Posted by brian on Tue, 04/13/2010

Hello,

It would be nice to have the feature to prepend text infront of CLI when sending an inbound route to multiple extensions as you can with a single extension.

Thanks,
Brian

multidevice-exten is not something you select from inbound routes.. goto user extension works whether your extension is using multi-device extension or userexten or stdexten

Sorry - I'm not explaining myself well..

In inbound routes when you select Run script* Go To user Extension you have an option:

Text to prepend to caller id name

If you select: Multidevice device extension that option is not there.

Would be nice if it was.

Thanks,
Brian

and im telling you.. youre doing it wrong.. tl-multidevice-exten is NOT supposed to be used from inbound routes. The fact that it even appears in the list means a bug needs to be submitted.

here is how to use multidevice-exten

Go to the users extension...

change the script from tl-userexten to tl-multidevice-exten and select the other phones.

TL-MULTIDEVICE-EXTEN is design for a single EXTENSION to ring multiple devices while all sharing ONE mailbox yet preserve ALL the call forwarding, screening etc.

you have a GCE (gross conceptual error) as to what you're trying to accomplish. Either:

1) you dont intend for extension 100 to always call 4 phones and you REALLY meant to create a hunt list for this DID

2) you DO want extension 100 to always ring 4 devices and you have turned this on in the entirely wrong place.

in either case you need to either:

A) create a hunt list and use the goto-huntlist script (which has a prepend text)

B) use go to extension 100 ... which has a prepend text, and the extension 100's script calls the 4 phones.
