New to Thirdlane

Posted by LWXJay on Sat, 07/20/2019

Hey Team,

I've just installed Thirdlane Multi-Tenant to evaluate for our company and while I'm impressed with the features and the ability to customise it. I can't find a manual and almost all articles which come up on Google search from the Thirdlane site are as old as the hills.

So the question is, is anyone still using this software, or so I move on immediatly?

I've used a number of products in the past, but never Asterisk which puts me at an immediate disadvantage. I've wasted over an hour trying (unsuccessfully) to setup my first SIP Trunk. I need to register and authenticate with the SIP Provider, but I'll be damned if it wants to work and no amount of Googling seems to give me the missing item.

The YouTUbe channel for Thirdlane has two videos, neither of which are about the PBX, features, configuration and with other posts in the forum of people asking for setup guides etc what's going on?

I'd love to hear from anyone actually using the product. I'm keen to see if it's worthy of investing more time.

Cheers,
Jay

It’s very much in use and continuing to improve/evolve. If you don’t have any Asterisk experience you’ll be at a slight disadvantage but that doesn’t mean you can’t catch up. I would recommend this as a starting point for Asterisk: https://www.amazon.com/Asterisk-Definitive-Guide-Future-Telephony/dp/14…

Thirdlane doesn’t require you know Asterisk but it certainly does help. You can reach out directly if you would like to discuss one on one as well.

Jay,

If you or your customers require extensive documentation, Thirdlane is not for you. As you have discovered, recent documentation is virtually non-existent.

If you are able to create your own documentation for your customers, then Thirdlane may still be a viable option for you. Otherwise, it may be best to look elsewhere or to look for a managed provider who may be able to do most of the legwork for you.

Hi Jay,

Netriplex may not be aware, but we do have a User's Guide for Thirdlane Connect, which is available with the installation and is geared toward end users. Please take a look at it on a demo system: https://mtedemo.thirdlane.com/connect/docs/

It is a bit ironic that we are talking about the documentation right now, as this whole weekend we were working on a new version of Thirdlane documentation for system administrators - frankly long overdue. It is rewritten for the next release of Thirdlane to reflect various enhancements and new features.

Please feel free to reach out and contact our sales team (sales at thirdlane.com) - we would be happy to help you with the first steps.

Please do not use Thirdlane forum for advertisement and please keep your signatures free of external links. Thanks

Alex,

You continue to prove why Thirdlane continues to lose marketshare. This would be the first forum of over 2 dozen forums that I participate on that disallows external links in signatures. Half of the motivation for forum participation is for business exposure, it isn't like your paying me to answer questions on this forum and outside of your support team, I have provided more community answers and solutions than most other participants on this forum.

Congratulations on another smart business decision.

I hope you continue to participate in the forum, and I will be happy if that generates business for your company, but please do so while following the guidelines.
